ABOUT ME
Gabriel Ceballos is an up-and-coming composer, arranger, performer, and conductor. He is a graduate of the Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Music Studies program from Berklee Online, the online arm of the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
Gabriel was first exposed to music around age 4 when he learned to play the violin in elementary school. From there, he learned to play the piano at around age 7 and the guitar in the fifth grade. He took up the bass guitar and organ in 2020.
Gabriel's high school was Brent International School Manila, where he majored in computer science, physics, and mathematics. He graduated from Brent with an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma. To this day, he uses his experience in computer science in his music production projects.
Gabriel also played in orchestras like the prestigious Asia Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) orchestra in which Brent participated. In his senior year of high school in 2018, he traveled to Beijing, China to participate in the largest gathering of APAC orchestra chapters. He also became concertmaster of Brent's string orchestra that year and briefly played with the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO) during a summer camp.
In college, Gabriel became the musical director of the Ateneo Catechetical Instruction League (ACIL) of the Ateneo de Manila University and conducted the Valencia Musical Theater Club at Berklee's campus in Valencia, Spain. He continues to volunteer as a pianist at his parish, the Church of the Gesù on the campus of the Ateneo de Manila.
Even though his musical training was in the Western style, Gabriel always included his Filipino heritage in his compositions whenever possible. Among his most recent projects is a four-movement suite for string orchestra based on musical themes from Filipino folk songs.
Now that he has completed his college degree, Gabriel plans to work in the film, TV, and media industry, using the skills and knowledge he has gained from his time at Berklee to fuse the Western style in which he was trained with his Filipino background.
